Tips To Prepare For A Photoshoot (Client)

Hello, GoodMorning Or Goodnight.

I've decided to start this blog off with "Tip Tuesdays."

Every Tuesday, I want to give either clients or photographers a tip.

Hopefully this is useful for both parties — photographers I have included a link for you to download a copy to send to your clients.

Booking and preparing for a photo shoot is a big deal. You've spent your hard-earned money on this great photographer. (if you booked me, thank you) So showing up the day of your shoot prepared is imperative. When planning a photoshoot, there are some areas where a little advanced preparation can make a huge difference. Neglect them, and an otherwise perfect photo could end up with distracting elements. We want you to stand out in the picture, nothing else!

I've been shooting for some years now, and here are some of my top tips to help you.

    • Wax Eyebrows and any unwanted hair

    • Get a Manicure, if feet will be shown add a pedicure too.

    • A professional makeup artist is highly recommended, I advise you to book that at least 3 hours before your shoot. Makeup usually takes about an hour or an hour and a half. Calculate traffic time into that too.

    • If possible, plan your hair appointment either the day before or the day of the shoot.

    • Bring a brush and some hair products with you.

    • Make sure that ALL the clothes are ironed before the shoot.

    • Bring lip balm or lip gloss with you.

    • Bring the correct undergarments. If you don't want a bra strap to show in your pictures, it shouldn't show during the session.

    • Moisturize your skin!

    • Pack the day before to ensure you won't forget essential items.

    • Socks! Men, this one is important and forgotten a lot. If you happen to sit down, your socks will show, so please bring the appropriate ones.

    • Get your rest! Shoots can require a lot of energy. Lack of sleep can show in your eyes.

    • Bring "A" friend, not a group of people. Not the judgy friend either but someone who will help you be comfortable.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE BE ON TIME

Your session starts at your scheduled time. Please be mindful that sessions are often back to back, and our studio is a shared location. Showing up late can either shorten your shoot time, or it can be canceled altogether

Everyone asks, 'Can you Photoshop this or that… I have a double chin, can you edit the wrinkles in my shirt, can you fix my hair? Well, that depends. Sometimes we can, and sometimes we can't. Every image is different, and Photoshop can be amazing for fixes, but it can not fix everything without looking too retouched. The more prepared you are, the better your images will be.

Did I miss anything? What would you add to this list?
